steel stacks.

Operated by ArtsQuest in Bethlehem, Pa., this retired steel mill is now a campus centered on supporting arts and culture in the Lehigh Valley. The stacks are massive and impressive, and the pictures don’t do them justice. I went this weekend to see Shawn, who was on the campus for a World Cup festival.

It’s both sad and inspiring: arts and culture survive amid the bones of a once-thriving industrial complex. Growth from decay. A playground surrounded by rust and crumbling brick.

As an added bonus, at night, the campus lights up in colors. It’s reminiscent of Joker’s lair in Arkham City, for you gamers and comic fans out there.
